Legacy Endowment Community Foundation recently awarded a Community Grant Fund to Boys & Girls Club of Oceanside (BGCO) to support their Real Options for Adults with Disabilities (ROADs) virtual program. Established in 2012, ROAD’s was developed to fill a pressing need for meaningful daytime enrichment activities for developmentally disabled adults in North County San Diego. Due to unique needs that arose from COVID-19,  Boys & Girls Club of Oceanside now offers two distinct ROADs programs, a traditional, in-person program and a virtual program. The Community Grant Fund is supporting the year-round virtual program, currently serving 6-9 fluctuating participants. The virtual program is free and takes place Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This virtual ROADs program is deep in content and connection. These adults have a virtual routine that includes classes in fitness and health, kitchen safety, financial literacy, science, communication, ASL, art, music, and advocacy. Virtual ROADs participants are mailed art, cooking, and science supplies, enabling them to all have the same available resources. The ROADs program provides personalized goals, friendship, connections, and joy!
